DIRECTOR'S BIOGRAPHY
ALEXANDRA L. DUNGCA is a filmmaker and creative producer born and raised in San Fernando, Pampanga, Philippines. Her passion for filmmaking began in the 8th grade when she watched a student-made film by her senior. Mesmerized by the seamless flow of editing, she found herself wondering if she, too, could craft stories through film. This curiosity quickly grew into a lifelong pursuit, despite being enrolled in a science and technology-focused high school.
Determined to follow her creative instincts, Alex pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Filmmaking at Mapúa University, where she is now in her senior year, specializing in Creative Producing. Her first short film outside of film school, Queng Apag, received a grant from the first ever Puregold Cine Panalo Film Festival,
celebrating the culture of her hometown and regional cinema. The film had a two-week theatrical run, marking a significant milestone in her filmmaking journey.
As a producer, Alexandra has collaborated on a variety of projects spanning short films, animation, and commercial work. She was the associate producer for The Blind Man at the End of the World, which received the Stathis Paraskevopoulos Award from the Drama International Short Film Festival Pitching Lab. She also produced I’m Best Left Inside My Head, the first animated thesis film in Mapúa Film, and Si Igme at Ang Kaniyang Dinosaur, a semi-finalist at The Manila Film Festival.
Beyond her work in production, Alexandra honed her skills in sound and post-production during her internship at Narra Post-Production Studios, the Philippines' premier Dolby Atmos-certified sound post-production house under Wildsound. She also runs Live-Sound by Alx, an audio equipment rental service catering to both students and professionals.
Alexandra is deeply passionate about telling stories that amplify marginalized voices, explore alternative cinema, and push for queer representation and regional narratives. She strives to create films that challenge conventions and bring forward underrepresented perspectives, using her craft to bridge culture, identity, and advocacy through the power of visual storytelling.
