YV SALAZAR is a student at the business-centered Ateneo de Manila University, yet it is here where she honed her passion for filmmaking during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her style is described to be political and experimental, yet saccharine from her use of vibrant and mixed media visuals. Her voice is rooted in “healing the inner child” by using film to make sense of her family’s reserved past and her femininity influenced by the rotating female figures she grew up with. Her first short, Lingkis, is an animated documentary and a product of the frustration felt during Duterte’s regime and how it mirrored the tyrannical dictatorship of former president Marcos 30 years prior. Her directorial was later screened in Interfilm Berlin 2022 and won Second Best Documentary in the Society of Filipino Film Reviewers 2022 and Honorable Mention in Gawad Alternatibo 2022 of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Salazar has since edited and directed various satirical shorts. Recently, she has finished production for Hilaw Na Ligaw, a coming-of-age comedy on Filipino sapphic and familial love. Despite getting exposed on set during her latter college years, Salazar was guided by her professor, independent director John Torres, and recent mentor, director-producer Dan Villegas.

ISABEL “SITA” MARGARITA VALENZUELA is a director and producer, who recently graduated Magna Cum Laude, majoring in Legal Management and specializing in International Business from Ateneo De Manila University. She practices her artistic side as an alumna of the Loyola Film Center (LFC), her alma mater’s premiere film organization. Her directorial debut, Lingkis, an experimental documentary that presents the history of impunity in Philippine politics through Filipino mythology, won top prizes at local collegiate festivals, Honorable Mention at the 34th Gawad Alternatibo, and was included in the Official Selection for INTERFILM Berlin. She is producing an upcoming short film, titled “The Blind Man at the End of the World,” which has earned a Mentorship Award during the Pitching Lab at the Drama International Short Film Festival in Greece. Her films primarily involve addressing socio-political issues in the Philippine setting. Presently, Valenzuela is exploring various career paths while remaining committed to her involvement in the media industry, particularly in producing films that continue to uplift unheard voices of different marginalized communities.
